The Greatest Commandments

The Greatest Commandments

Bible: Mark 12:18-34

Lesson: Jesus was teaching people about God.  And in the crowd were other teachers of God.  Some where good and some were bad.  One of the good teachers asked Jesus a really important question.  What is the most important commandment in the Bible?  Now you know about the ten commandments and the good teacher knew them too.  But he wanted to know the most important one.
(Mark 12:29-30)  29 Jesus answered, “Here is the most important one. Moses said, ‘Israel, listen to me. The Lord is our God. The Lord is one. 30 Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul. Love him with all your mind and with all your strength.’—(Deuteronomy 6:4,5)  Is that everything?  Yes, you are to Love God with everything you have.  Jesus didn’t stop there, because he knew that there was another really important command.  So He said,
(Mark 12:31) 31 And here is the second one. ‘Love your neighbor as you love yourself.’—(Leviticus 19:18) There is no commandment more important than these.”
Nothing more important then these!  We should pay attention to these then.  If you look at the ten commandments really closely, you will find that all ten of them fit inside these two commands.  That is amazing!  You see if you Love God with everything then you won’t worship anything else or say bad things about “His name.”  And you would want to go to church and obey Him .  And if you love your neighbor as yourself then you won’t steal, hit, hurt his family, lie or want things he/she has.  You see when you understand how much God loves you.  You will want to love Him with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind and with all your strength.
You will want to share that love with others.  And love your neighbor as yourself.  (Number one and Two)
Does anyone remember who your neighbor is? -Your neighbor is anyone you see that has a need

Important Point:
1. Love God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind and with all your strength.
2. Love your neighbor as yourself (Your neighbor is anyone you see that has a need)

Learning Moments:

No Learning moments to share this week.  Except for, it is good to take off and relax at least semi annually.   This weekend my husband and I are regrouping and enjoying each others company.  My friend will be teaching the class.  I will ask her how it went and share any needed changes or comments.

They didn’t have much time, because our service time went longer then usual.  They got the lesson, the puzzle and she repeated the important point several times.  Great job!  You have to be flexible about time when working as a Sunday School teacher.
