Giving 2: Giving to Jesus

Giving to Jesus

Bible: Matthew 6:19-24

Lesson: Last week we talked about a little old women that only had a little bit of money but she gave more then the rich men that made a lot of sound with their money. (In that pot) We talked about why we give to God. Can anyone remember some reasons we give our money and time to God? This week we are going to talk about how to give to God. Did you know that our giving makes God smile?

Important Point: The things we give to God now will give us treasures in Heaven when we get there.
How to Give:
1. Give Quietly (Matthew 6:2)
2. Give cheerfully (2 Corinthians 9:7)
3. Give prayerfully (2 Corinthians 8:5)
4. Give Big (2 Corinthians 9:6, Luke 6:38)

Direction: Print out Treasures in Heaven, Lent Money back/front and How to Give Bank-front/back. One bank and at least two Lent Moneys for each child. Cut the bank around the outside on the dotted line and on the dotted line on the top flap. Fold the flaps on the dashed lines in toward the treasure box. The side flaps fold in first, the bottom folds up and the top flap folds down. Glue the back of the bank on to the Treasures in Heaven page. Allow children to color the page. Then give them the Lent Money to put in the inside. Show them how to give by stepping through the flaps.
Materials: Colors, scissors, and glue.

Learning Moments:

I have been doing Sunday School for about 10 years, and I still am always amazed at how much children love puppets. I love using them, but I’m not so excited about watching them. It all works out in my class. They get to watch something they love and I get do something I love. I had a full class and only 2 children tried to be stars this week. If I could only hang the video camera from the ceiling, we would be better off. May-be? Or may-be it would be a great looking volley ball? If anyone things of a better solution, I would be more then glad to listen.
