Sunday School Pages is moving!

To all valued patrons of SundaySchoolPages.com,

Hurray!  SundaySchoolPages.com is getting a much needed face lift.  We are soon moving to SundaySchoolLady.com.  I will be making some updates.  I would love to give Sunday School Teachers, Home groups and moms an opportunity to connect with each other in a Sunday School Forum.  There is a whole beautiful team of Bible teaching missionaries from around the world. They may feel isolated.  Many small church Sunday School Teachers can feel alone in their efforts.  I want to take, “Many advisers make victory sure,” seriously, and make it possible for us to share our wisdom.  In an attempt to make a seamless transition, those that come to SundaySchoolPages.com will automatically be transferred to SundaySchoolLady.com.  Thanks for you patience.

Blessings to you,

–Sherry

Revelation: He’s Coming Back!

Revelation:  Jesus is Coming Back!

Location:  Map of the Mediterranean

Bible:  Revelations 19:6-9

Lesson:  Jesus is coming back!  Did you know that Jesus is coming back to get those who love him?  When you ask Jesus to live in your heart, it is like a wedding promise.  You promise to love, honor and obey Jesus as long as you live, just as a bride and groom promise to stay together.  In the time Jesus lived here on earth,  a groom and bride would promise to get married.  The groom would go and build a home for them or add on to his father’s house.  When the home was ready, he would come back to get his bride and they would a great big party, called a wedding feast.  Jesus promise to come back to earth and get his bride too.  His bride is the church.  Those who love Jesus will get dressed-up in white and go to a great big wedding party.  What kind of food do you think with be at the wedding party?  –cakes, cookies, BBQ chicken…  Even with all of that wonderful food, the best thing of all will be that we get to live with Jesus forever and ever.  While we wait, we should be helping Jesus bring as many people as we can to the wedding party.  Because only those who know and love Jesus will be able to come.

Important Point:  Jesus is coming back!  There will be a great big wedding party to celebrate.

Direction:   Print out Jesus is Coming Again.   Have the children color the sheet.  Give them the glitter paint and brushes to make the bride and groom shiny.
Materials: Brushes, glitter paint, crayons, water and cup.  (a few paper towels “just-in-case”)

Learning Moment: It was a lot of fun dressing up in the old wedding dress.  But be sure to bring safety pins if the dress is “really” old.  The zipper was broke and tiny safety pin didn’t keep it together.

The Wedding Feast

The Wedding Feast

Last week we talked about the churches with shiny lights in Revelations.  We were rushed by our Jesse Tree craft (We are getting ready for our Christmas project.)  I felt like we needed to talk a little more about the second coming of Jesus.  I didn’t have time to write down the lesson.  I will try to post that later this week.

Revelation of John

Shiny Church

Bible: Revelations 1

Lesson: Jesus is the light of the world.  His light never goes out.  When we believe in Jesus, his light will live in us.  We can be shiny!  Other people can see Jesus’ shiny light inside of us.  When John, a disciple Jesus loved, was really old.  He was put on  an Island, away from people.  While John was praying, Jesus came to him.  Jesus told John to write letters to seven churches to tell them the good and bad things they are doing.  When you love Jesus you obey him and your lamp will be bright.  Jesus loves his churches so much he wants them to be bright.  Do you want to be bright and shiny for Jesus?  –so did John.  Jesus reminded the churches how to please God.  1.  Love God more then everything (more than toys, and cookies and even ice cream),  2. Love other people more than yourself,  3. Believe Jesus’ words and do them.  We can be shiny too!  A church is a bunch of shiny people that love Jesus and do what He says.  The brighter the people the brighter the church.  Do you want Jesus to shine in you.  You get to help make our church brighter by following Jesus.

Important Point: Jesus is the light of God.  You can have Jesus’ light in you.

Direction: Print out Lamp Stands of the Seven Churches.   Glue another sheet of paper (like a pocket with the top open) to the back of the Lamp Stands of the Seven Churches.  Cut circles in the top of the lamp stands (Easiest: hold the paper so that the dotted circles are folded in half and cut on the dotted half circle)  Cut 2 inches of the long edge off a piece of black and a piece of yellow construction paper.  Fold the yellow and black construction paper in half long ways and cut along the folder line.  Tape the yellow half piece of paper to the black half of construction paper along the new long sides.  (You should have a whole piece of construction paper with a yellow top and a black bottom.)  Slide the yellow/black sheet in the pocket of the Lamp Stands of the Seven Churches.
Materials: 1 extra sheet of white printer paper for each child, 1 yellow construction paper and 1 black construction paper for every two children, scissors, tape, and glue.

Learning Moments: This worked really well.  I would have loved to include candles to make my point, but I thought that it would have been a little dangerous for preschoolers.  We also started our Christmas “learning” craft.  This year I am doing an “Advent Jessie Tree Daily Devotional.”  My Pastor is getting on board to write up the devotionals.  I’m going to insure that they are at a “kid” level and get them out to you.  It is so amazing to be allowed to join God in the things he is doing.  More about the Jessie Tree later.

Know the Bible, Don’t Change it!

Know the Bible–Don’t Change it!

Holy Men that Listened to God Wrote the Bible!

The Bible is God’s Words!

Bible: 2 Tim 3:16-17, 2 Peter 1-2, Isaiah 40:6-8, Rev 22:18-19

Lesson:
The Bible tells us that we should not change the or remove any words in it.  It warrens us of false teachings.  Teachers that tell untrue things about what the Bible says.  So were does that Bible come from and how do we know it is true?
The Bible was written by holy men of God.  It is God’s words written down from us.   Because there were some people that wanted to change the words of the Bible to say the things they wanted them to say.  Many holy men prayed, read and chose the Bible Canon.
What is a Bible Canon?  It is a Library of Books that 1. Were inspired by God. 2. Were consistent with the whole Bible. 3. Were written by holy men.
The Bible is a Library of Books written by people who listened to God.  It is divided into two parts.  Do you know what those two parts are?  -the old testament and new testament.  The old testament has 39 books in it.  And the new testament has 27.  They have divided those books by how they were used.  Have you ever seen your mom and dad organize a book shelf?  That is what they did to the Bible.  There are books about God’s Laws, History of His people, Poetry, Major (big) and minor (little) Prophets.   The New Testament is also divide into uses, as well.  There are books about Jesus’ life on earth, “the gospels;” History of the Jesus’ church;  Letter’s to the Churches; and Prophecy, things that will happen in the future.  The Bible is full of wonderful words from God, that is why Jesus friend’s said not to change the meaning of any words.  It is important to never change the meaning of the words God gave us in the Bible.

Important Point:
The Bible was written by holy men for God.  It is God’s words written down for us.  Don’t change it!

Direction: Print out Do Not Change the Bible( Print in card stock) and Uses for the Bible Books (Print in card stock).   Cut out the Uses for the Bible Book tags and put a small piece of velcro on the back of each book tag.  Put the other side of the velcro on the shelves of the book shelf on the Do Not Change the Bible page.
Materials: Colors, scissors, card stock and Velcro.  If you don’t have velcro, you can glue the books on the shelves.
